BANGALORE: This publication seems to be a unique one. Its Chief Editor is still in college! The World Standard Publication launched its maiden venture, Hum Tum, a weekly English journal at a function here on Sunday. The magazine was released by the Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, K. Rehman Khan, in the presence of the Government Chief Whip, Saleem Ahmed. The periodical is not like others, specially in the way it looks. It is colourful, has a glossy finish, and is somewhere between a tabloid and a broadsheet. The target readers seem to be youngsters, mostly of the school and college going age. Speaking to presspersons, the Chief Editor of the magazine, Mohammed Nadim, who is a first year BBM student at the Baldwin Methodist College, said Hum Tum will be targeted to those up to 16 years of age. "We have started with Bangalore but hope to launch in other metros shortly. The idea is to give lot of useful information and innovative ideas to youngsters," he said. He added that the magazine has already secured around 30,000 subscribers. The periodical costs Rs. 10 and initially advertisements are supposed to be free of cost.
