RAICHUR: Members of the district unit of the Karnataka Shiv Sena Party staged a dharna and resorted to rasta-roko here on Sunday at the Ambedkar Circle. They protested against the failure of the district administration to provide basic amenities. They submitted a memorandum to the Municipal Commissioner demanding that attention be given to people's problems. Most roads in the city are in a dilapidated state and no steps have been taken by the authorities concerned to repair them, they alleged. The city municipality has failed to construct toilets for women in any of the wards in the city and provide safe drinking water, they said. According to the activists, a memorandum was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner last month urging him to instruct the authorities to take the necessary steps to provide basic amenities. However, there was no response. The party will intensify its stir if no action is initiated, they said. Chandramouli H. Ballal, district unit president, D.G. Desai, general secretary, G. Veeresh Reddy, president of youth wing of the city unit of the party were present.
