NEW DELHI: The former "wife" of a dismissed Delhi police constable, her paramour and an alleged contract killer have been arrested on charges of abducting him from Seemapuri in North-East Delhi and killing him at Palwal in Haryana on August 1. On Friday, the police received a complaint from Vishram Singh, a sub-inspector with the Madhya Pradesh police, alleging that his son, Gyanender, had been abducted by Rashmi, who later turned out to be his former lover, and her boyfriend, Sahil. Subsequently, the police picked up the couple for questioning. They allegedly confessed to having killed Gyanender. As it turned out, till last year, Gyanender had been living with Rashmi as her husband. He married another woman in June last year but kept meeting Rashmi regularly. Meanwhile, Rashmi became close to Sahil and started living with him. Sahil and Rashmi tried to avoid Gyanender but he would regularly visit her house. To get rid of Gyanender, the couple allegedly planned to eliminate him. They roped in a car mechanic, Nawab, and agreed to pay him Rs. 30,000 to kill Gyanender. He was paid an advance sum of Rs. 5,000 for the job. On August 1 night, Rashmi called Gyanender on the pretext of a pleasure trip to Agra. He along with her and two other accused headed for Agra in a Maruti Zen. On the way, he consumed beer and when he was in an inebriated state the accused turned the vehicle towards Palwal in Haryana where they overpowered him and strangled him. They then dumped Gyanender's body in the bushes along Grand Trunk Road. Gyanender's body was recovered by the Palwal police on August 2. At the instance of Rashmi and Sahil, the police have arrested Nawab.
