HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Panchayati Raj Services Association has decided to represent before the high power committee on the PRC recommendations to agree for even less than 30 per cent salary fitment. It demanded increased scales for the group I extension officers in Panchayat Raj and Rural Development departments and divisional/district panchayat officers. The association meeting on Sunday resolved to submit representations to the Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and the Finance Minister K. Rosaiah, regarding "step motherly" treatment shown towards the department. The other demands discussed include restoration of extension officers' posts and appointment of part-time employees as panchayat secretaries in vacant positions, according to S. Anil Kumar, chairman.
Typists, stenos upset
Members of the Andhra Pradesh State Typists and Stenographers' Association have expressed "deep resentment" against the recommendations of the PRC report with regard to special pay. In a statement issued here, K. Malleswara Rao, president, expressed anguish that the percentage of special pay was reduced from 31.25 in 1965 to just 2.78 now. .
Teachers' plea
Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh Teachers' Federation has demanded extension of the deadline for effecting inter-district transfers, as the time allocated was insufficient. The State Executive of the federation adopted a resolution to this effect.
