Shift flower exhibitions Come August, and it is the time for plant and flower exhibitions. There was a time when these exhibitions were held in the Public Gardens, a central and convenient location. Since a few years, the venue has been shifted to Shilparam and many from the city are unable to make it to this distant place. Carrying the plants purchased is also a problem. These exhibitions should ideally be at the Public Gardens. M.I. Suryanarayana, Punjagutta Drainage woes Whenever it rains drainage water that is let out from Deendayalnagar and Kaktiyanagar flows into Santoshi Maanagar colony and overflows into Road No. 20 of our colony which is in ward No. 11 of Malkajgiri municipality. Through I have given a written complaint regarding this, no action has been taken so far nor have any officials come to the colony to understand the problem. P.S. Sankara Narayanan, R.K. Puram Traffic hazard The absence of traffic control mechanism at either end of the road on the bridge across the Ramakrishnapuram railway track, under Malkajgiri municipality poses a danger not only to pedestrians but also to vehicles. The danger is especially prominent on the Army School side where there is a junction of arterial branches in three different directions. This area is prone to accidents and the authorities need to install effective traffic control mechanism such as control signal, and speed breakers here. <74,150,200,500>M. Ramamoorthi,
Ramakrishnapuram Prevent flooding In the caption to a picture of the wooden bridge leading to a water logged house in Kavuri Hills in The Hindu dated August 4, 2005, it was mentioned that the house had been built on Durgam Cheruvu lake bed. It may be noted that the site on which the house was built is part of a HUDA authorised layout. The residents of Amar Co-operative Housing Society request the authorities concerned to take note of this fact and act in time to avoid large scale flooding of the colony. K. Viswanath, Kavuri Hills, Jubilee Hills Stink pond In the heart of Koti near the gate of Osmania Medical College there is an ever-extending pool of urine. Reason: a urinal has been constructed nearby with its outlet on to the main road! The floating population on this road, which must be more than two to three lakhs, cannot miss the pool, which is reaching the size of a pond. Imagine the situation on rainy days with the contents of the pool mixing with flowing rainwater. Y. Markandeyulu, Vanasthalipuram More reserved seats I am a regular traveller in RTC buses and wish to thank RTC for having provided two seats for the exclusive use of senior citizens. As everyone is aware the population of senior citizens is increasing and they need kindness of each and everyone for their safe mobility. If the RTC authorities can increase the number of seats reserved for senior citizens to four we will be very thankful. P.K.V.R. Iyengar, East Anandbagh
