student arrested

NEW DELHI: A second year student of Unani Tibbia College was arrested on Sunday on charges of stripping two freshers and forcing them to `act' for an MMS video clip on Thursday night. While the police recovered from him the mobile phone used to record the `act', two other senior students are still absconding.

Pornographic

books seized

NEW DELHI: The Special Staff of the North-East Delhi police has arrested one person and seized pornographic books worth Rs. 94,000 from him. On Saturday, head constable Ram Kishan received a tip-off that one Rashid, son of Hameed, was selling pornographic books at Indira Vihar in North-East Delhi. Acting on this information, a raid was conducted at the address. At Rashid's instance, 4, 660 pornographic books were recovered.

PCR saves two women

NEW DELHI: The Police Control Room (PCR) van staff saved two women in distress in different parts of the Capital on Sunday. Four persons were arrested in this connection.

Woman murdered

NEW DELHI: A 30-year-old woman was murdered in Deoli village in South Delhi on Sunday, police said.

Deceased Rehana, mother of four, was cleaning utensils at her house when one Sarfaraz (22) came and slashed her neck with a knife, police said adding the accused later surrendered before police at a nearby post.

The weapon used in the crime has been recovered at the instance of the accused against whom a case of murder has been registered at PS Ambedkar Nagar.

DJB employee arrested

NEW DELHI: A Delhi Jal Board (DJB) employee was arrested for allegedly raping a woman in a park in East Delhi, Police sources said on Sunday.

Appointment

NEW DELHI: Justice B A Khan has been appointed acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court with immediate effect, official sources said on Sunday.

Mr Khan, the senior most judge of the court, will succeed Justice B C Patel who has retired.

He has been a High Court Judge in Jammu and Kashmir and Madhya Pradesh, before being transferred to Delhi in 2000. UNI SN AL HT1757
