BANGALORE: The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has formulated a "BMTC Commuter Advisory and Facilitation Committee" to improve the services and the facilities provided to the travelling public. With Hemaraju, General Manager (Technical), BMTC, as chairperson and V.K. Somashekhar, Managing Trustee, Grahak Shakti, as co-chairperson, the panel will have the following non-official members: Jayashree Ravindra, chairperson, Projects and Campaigns; Meera Mukund, Abyudaya; C. Mahabaleswara Madhyastha, vice-president, Karnataka Helen Keller Handicapped Association; and D.K. Ravindranath, deputy director, Consumer Affairs, Karnataka. The BMTC members in the panel will be K.S. Viswanath, CTM (C); Dasthagir Sharief, CTM (O); and N.K. Basavaraj, senior depot manager, Depot-13, Kathriguppe. C.G. Anand, chief mechanical engineer, will be the panel's convenor. The committee will cover issues such as: feedback mechanism, corrective actions, rapport between BMTC and the travelling public; citizens charter, additional support through public participation; resolution of problems / grievance of commuters, employers and citizens; sharing of information; support for new ventures and formulation of ideas in innovative and creative aspects, and aiming at improvement in the services.
