MANGALORE: Steps have been taken to provide healthcare to 7.07 lakh people in Dakshina Kannada as part of a health awareness campaign to be organised between September 12 and 24, Chief Executive Officer of the zilla panchayat A.M. Kunjappa has said. In a press release issued here, he has said that of the beneficiaries, 3.51 lakh are women. A team of 114 doctors will examine the beneficiaries in 534 hospitals and health centres across the district. They will receive free counselling and medicines. Those needing advanced treatment will be recommended to specialists. Mr. Kunjappa has said that 1.10 lakh people were benefited by a similar campaign in 2003-04.
