`No-nonsense' man

Speaker Somnath Chatterjee does not suffer fools gladly. Whether presiding over the Lok Sabha or speaking to the media, the `prim and propah' Marxist stalwart deals with the audience with great panache. Not for him frivolous queries or insipid assumptions. A scribe learnt to his embarrassment that discretion is the better part of valour when the tall leader curtly told him that he was in no dilemma over accommodating the Congress and Marxist members in the House in equal measure.
