NEW DELHI: : To commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Global Peace Initiative (GPI) will organise a rally here on October 2. "We are bringing the peace movement back to its home, the land of the Mahatma," said GPI founder K.A. Paul on Tuesday. Mr. Paul, a Christian evangelist, heads the organisation that provides aid and relief to the destitute worldwide. It has an aircraft to deliver aid and medical personnel to conflict zones. "Global Peace was most recently deployed to deliver supplies to the tsunami-ravaged people of South and South East Asia," said Mr. Paul. He has built in his home State of Andhra Pradesh a 1,100-acre facility that can house and provide assistance to 4,000 children. "We want to attract a wide range of people, from Members of Parliament to the common man, to symbolically demonstrate our belief in peace," he said. Speaking via video link, former boxing champion Evander Holyfield, who is also expected to attend, said "peace is not limited by borders."
