BANGALORE: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday sought more time to file the final reports in two of the 10 stamp paper racket cases in the State being investigated by it. Submitting before the Special Court trying the stamp paper racket cases, the CBI counsel said the investigation officers of cases booked in the Upparpet and City Market police stations are awaiting some documents from their Delhi office. Refraining from naming the documents, the counsel said: "Soon after getting the documents, we will file the final report." It was on Saturday that the Special Court directed the CBI to give reasons for the delay in submitting the final reports after it was brought to its notice by the former Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sangram Singh, who is one of the 11 accused in the case registered in the City Market police station. Mr. Singh had said that the delay in filing the final report is preventing him from being released from judicial custody. On Tuesday, the CBI counsel said that the submission of the final report has no bearing on the charges against Mr. Singh and 10 others accused in the cases. "Nothing is left for investigation in the case of Mr. Sangram Singh," he said. The judge, A.T. Munnoli, asked Mr. Singh's counsel as to whether he was ready for the hearing on the charges against Mr. Singh. To this, Mr. Singh's counsel said he will file an application seeking bail on the next date of hearing.
Printing machine
The CBI filed an application for shifting the printing machine seized in the City Market case to the Government Printing Press. This machine, used by the accused to print fake stamp papers, was seized by the CBI on Goodshed Road here. In its application, the CBI said the machine should be shifted to facilitate its repair and maintenance.
Adjourned
The Judge adjourned the case till August 17.
