Milk vendors take out a rally

PONDICHERRY: The members of the Pondicherry Private Milk Producers and Vendors Welfare Association took out a rally here on Tuesday urging the administration to concede their demands.

The association president, R. Krishnan, said the small retail vendors were suffering a lot under the "policies" of the administration towards the producers in the Union Territory.

The cattle feed available through the department of Animal Husbandry should be of good quality.

The price should be revised upward as the cost of maintenance of the milch animals, the cattle feed and the rearing of the animals had skyrocketed.

The association also called for a Welfare Board to address the issues of the milk producers and vendors.

The vendors held a demonstration in Bharathi park at the end of the rally.

The CPI(M) leader, T. Murugan, was present.
