BEIJING: A Chinese government spokesman said here on Tuesday the leader of Taiwan would "reap what he has sown" if he keeps advocating "Taiwan independence." He was referring to a speech made by the Taiwanese leader on Saturday at a meeting of a "Taiwan independence" organisation. "Easing, improving and developing relations across the Taiwan Strait now conform to the expectations of Taiwan compatriots, the mainstream of public opinion on both sides of the strait and the common interests of the international community," said the spokesman. Under such circumstances, he said, the Taiwanese leader still sticks obstinately to his `Taiwan independence' stance. Xinhua
