CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Health Department has cancelled the registration of two ultrasound clinics and recommended suspension of the registration of a medical practitioner for violating the Pre-Natal Diagnostic Technique (PNDT) Act, the Director-General, Health Services, Sushma Madan, said here on Tuesday. Dr. Madan stated that the PNDT Act was being implemented vigorously to curb the menace of female foeticide and declining sex ratio in the State. Regular raids and inspections of diagnostic centres were being carried out by the State Task Force in collaboration with the District Task Force to ensure that all provisions of the Act were being observed in letter and spirit. Raj Hospital in Ballabgarh was recently raided and an FIR was registered against the owner for carrying out illegal Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP). Similarly, Maya Maternity Home in Palwal was raided and the Civil Surgeon of Faridabad had initiated action. The Task Force also issued show-cause notices to Gupta Maternity Home, Palwal, Anmol Nursing Centre, Palwal, Janta Hospital, Ballabgarh and Bansal Nursing Home, Palwal for non-maintenance of proper records as per the provisions of the PNDT Act. Dr.Madan added that the State Task Force also inspected three registered ultrasound centres at Panchkula and found gross violations of the PNDT Act. Show cause notices had been issued to them.
