Jyotsana in final

NEW DELHI: Light-heavyweight pugilist Jyotsana became the ninth Indian to make it to the finals of the Asian Women's boxing championship at Taiwan.

In the 86kg final on Tuesday night, Jyotsana defeated her semifinal opponent from Chinese Taipei 21-14.

In the two other semifinal bouts, defending champion North Korea outclassed the Indian boxers. Kanaka Durga lost 9-23 while Aswathi Prabha went out of the reckoning, 12-25.

World champion M.C. Merykom (46kg), L. Sarita Devi (54kg), Pranamika Boro (60kg), Jenny R.L. (63kg), Aruna Mishra (66kg), Aswathi Mol (70kg), Karamjit Kaur (75kg), Lekha K.C. (80kg) and Jyotsana (86kg), are the Indians in the final.
