MYSORE: The Forest Department will launch a novel scheme to promote home remedies and ayurveda by popularising herbal and medicinal plants under its "Mane Maddu" programme. Conservator of Forests Srikantaiah told presspersons on Wednesday that the department has established an institution, "Sanjeevani," to promote the concept and will involve ayurvedic doctors, non-governmental organisations, Stree Shakti groups and village forest committees. Ayurvedic doctors will train non-governmental organisations and others involved in promoting herbal remedies and distribute saplings to them. Those interested in registering as members of "Sanjeevani" can contact the office of the Conservator of Forests, Aranya Bhavan, Ashokapuram, or call 2480875.
