J.K. Satheesh has been playing the `chenda' from 1991. Over the years, he has mastered the art of playing three `chendas' simultaneously. He has demonstrated this capability by playing three of these percussion instruments non-stop for two hours. Now Satheesh has sets his sights much higher. He wants to get into the Guinness Book of records. For this, Satheesh is attempting to play three `chendas' including the `veekkan chenda' and the `ilathalam chenda,' non-stop for 48 hours. He started his marathon attempt at 1 p.m. on Thursday. By 4.30 p.m., Satheesh was still going strong. But, there was hardly anybody at the VJT Hall, where the event is taking place, to watch him have a go at the Guinness. Satheesh's attempt is being sponsored by the Highness Association of Rajaji Nagar, Chengalchoola. The association has also hired a videographer to record the event and send a CD to Guinness officials.
