GULBARGA: The Joint Action Committee of Trade Unions on Thursday decided to hold a convention of workers of different industries in Gulbarga on Saturday as a prelude to the All India General Strike on September 29. Disclosing this to presspersons here, Wajendra Kulkarni of the committee, Vilas Kumar of All India Trade Union Congress, S.M. Herve of United Trade Union Congress (Lenin Sarani), K. Prakash of the State Government Employees' Federation, M.V. Sajjan of Gulbarga University Non-Teaching Staff Employees' Union, said the State Government employees and workers of all industries will participate in the general strike on September 29, in response to the call given by the National Convention of the Trade Unions. Mr. Kulkarni said that the workers will organise a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office on August 29. He also said the workers and unions will serve the strike notice to individual factories and companies on September 15 after holding gate meetings.
