24 students permitted to write exam

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Justice R. Gururajan on Thursday allowed 24 dental students, including a student admitted under the NRI quota, of HKDET Dental College, Humnabad, Bidar, to write the examination scheduled to be held on August 18.

The students had challenged the decision of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) in levying a penalty.

When the matter came up, Justice R. Gururajan, who was hearing the petitions, wondered how the Chief Minister could write to the RGUHS asking it to regularise the admission of these students. The Judge also noted that the Committee Overseeing Admissions to Private Colleges had not approved the admission of the students. He wanted to know how the file had gone to the Chief Minister.

The Judge directed the Government to file an affidavit in this regard and adjourned further hearing on the matter.
