UAE decision on sponsorship of expatriates

DUBAI: The United Arab Emirates Cabinet has formally allowed transfer of sponsorship in all categories of expatriate workers under certain conditions.

Expatriates would now be allowed sponsorship transfer against different sets of fee but they must still obtain the No-Objection Certificate from the sponsor, official news agency WAM said.

The fee ranges from1,500 dirhams for professionals with Masters or Ph. D. degrees, 3,000 dirhams for a Bachelor's degree holder to 5,000 dirhams for workers with lower qualifications.

The Cabinet has also issued the notification amending visit visa rules, hiking the fee from100 dirham to 600 dirhams and renewal for1,200 dirhams.

The validity of the visit visa has been increased from two to three months and the renewal is for an additional three months.

It would now be possible to extend the visa up to six months, by paying an additional amount. — UNI
