MADIKERI: The exit of Siddaramaiah from the Cabinet will have no impact on the affairs of the Kodagu Janata Dal (Secular), Kodagu unit president V.P. Aiyappa said here on Wednesday. Addressing presspersons, Mr. Aiyappa said the party workers have rallied behind national party President H.D. Deve Gowda. The Janata Dal (S) in Kodagu is united and working to consolidate the party base, Mr. Aiyappa said. V.P. Shashidhar, President of the Somwarpet taluk unit of the party and zilla panchayat member, alleged that the convention of the backward classes, minorities and Dalits in Hubli was the handiwork of the Congress to create a rift in the Janata Dal (S). Those who attended the convention too were Congress leaders, he said. Mr. Siddaramaiah was misled by the Congress leaders over the issue, he said. Mr. Aiyappa said the Kodagu Janata Dal (S) will take a delegation to Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh seeking additional funds for taking up immediate relief works in Kodagu, which suffered heavy loss in the recent rains. The party unit has written to Mr. Singh, district in-charge Minister R. Srinivas, and the Water Resources Minister M. Mallikarjun Kharge. Replying to the question on the reported threat by Horticulture Minister R. Srinivas to resign as Kodagu district in-charge on Tuesday, Mr. Aiyappa said the former was pained at the stance of the State Government, which has not released enough funds to the district to take up relief works. Mr. Srinivas is not being consulted over the issue of forming the new body of the Karnataka Kodava Sahitya Academy earlier. The transfer of officials from the district too was not brought to his notice, he said. The Kodagu unit of the Janata Dal (S) hoped that Mr. Srinivas will change his mind and come back to the district, he said. The former MLA from Madikeri, D.S. Madappa; president of the party's Madikeri unit, K. Purushottama; general secretary of the district unit Hosur Satish Kumar Joyappa; youth leaders, Sridhar Nellithaya, Daya Changappa; president of the Madikeri city unit, Surendra Shetty; president of the district minority cell of the party, Tahir, and other local leaders were present.
