ELURU: The TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Friday demanded an explanation from the Government on its commitment towards minorities in the light of the Nanavati Commission's findings on attacks on Sikhs in Delhi after the assassination of the then prime minister, Indira Gandhi. Mr Naidu, who was on a two-day visit in West Godavari district as part of his election-eve road shows, told reporters at Tanuku that the resignation of the Union Minister, Jagdish Tytler, was a vindication of the alleged culpability of the Congress in the incident.
`Punish guilty'
Mr. Naidu wanted the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government to punish all those named by the Commission for their alleged role in the riots irrespective of their positions and political affiliations. He asserted that minorities had lost faith in the Congress. Referring to his statement against TDP aligning with the BJP in the municipal elections, Mr. Naidu did not rule out realignment of political forces in the State in the near future. "The distancing between the TDP and BJP raises a vacuum which is bound to be filled by one force or the other," he said.
