HYDERABAD: Four sets of documents will be handed over to each beneficiary during the second phase of land distribution, a programme that will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, on August 21 at Medak. A total extent of 1,04,588 acres is marked for distribution this time. Half of this was being assigned afresh while the remaining extent fell under different categories before being acquired for the purpose. The documents are: the title deed, passbook, sketch of the land with survey stones indicating the boundaries and papers relating to loan sanction for developing land. Handing over these documents is being insisted upon in order to ensure a meaningful transfer of ownership and trouble-free possession later.
Collectors briefed
This was stated by the Revenue Minister, Dharmana Prasada Rao, on Thursday after an interaction with Collectors through a video-conference to brief them on the guidelines for distribution on Thursday. He scotched criticism that all this was occupied land and that the Government was merely regularising the encroachments. Mr Rao said all arrangements had been made for the massive exercise. There would be immediate benefit under the new concept of distribution as, the beneficiary would be able to put the land to use at once using the loan for sinking a borewell etc. The Government's aim was to ensure cultivation of these lands during this season itself, he said. A beneficiary would be allowed five acres of dry land or 2.5 acres if wet. He said the assignment committee headed by the constituency legislators and consisting of Opposition MLAs had already identified the beneficiaries. To avoid confusion, the names of the beneficiaries would be displayed on the CCLA website by Aug 18 itself {lt}http.ccla.ap.gov.in{gt} T. K. Dewan, Chief Commissioner of Land Administration, and K. Raju, Commissioner, Rural Development were also present.
