KURNOOL: The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, has said that Julakanti Srinivasa Reddy alias Moddu Srinu, who was accused in the murder of the former MLA, Paritala Ravindra, cannot not escape from the long arm of law. Dr. Reddy who was here to attend the wedding of the daughter of Panyam MLA, Katasani Rambhupal Reddy, here on Thursday, found fault with the TV channel reporter, who interviewed the accused but failed to inform the police of his whereabouts. He said press persons should respect the law of the land and cooperate with the investigating agencies by passing on the information they gathered. The work of the Government or the agencies could not be effective if citizens failed to extend cooperation.
Media flayed
He wanted to know whether the correspondent of the TV channel had indulged in a serious omission by not passing on the information. Dr. Reddy said the CBI was doing a wonderful job in the MLA's murder case and was hopeful of taking the investigation to a logical end. The Chief Minister, who arrived here late by an hour, proceeded to the venue of the wedding and blessed the new couple. Before returning, he inquired about the flood situation in Kurnool city and villages on the riverbank.
Officials' pliant
The officials explained to the Chief Minister that the Tungabhadra flood could not enter the Krishna river easily at the confluence as over six lakh cusecs was flowing in the river. As a result the Tungabhadra flood flowed reverse into the Hundri inundating some areas in Johrapuram. The MLAs who were present at the helipad complained to the Chief Minister that the LLC canal failed to discharge the allotted quota of water at the delivery point in the State. Only 350 to 400 cusecs was realised at the border while the due share of the State was 700 cusecs.
Onion price hike
The Chief Minister also inquired about the sudden price escalation of onion and instructed the Marketing and Horticulture officials to send a detailed report on the possible shortage. The MLAs, Challa Ramakrishna Reddy, Kotla Sujathamma, E. Pratap Reddy, M. Sikhamani, Saipratap Reddy, Y. Channa Kesava Reddy and others were present.
