MADURAI: Minister for Food and Cooperation Pollachi V. Jayaraman on Thursday made a surprise inspection at the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC) godown to check whether the rice stock there conformed to quality norms. The Minister, accompanied by Collector D. Raajendiran, first visited the Venkatachalapuram godown at Jaihindpuram here and checked the weights. He directed officials to weigh rice bags and found them in order. He later verified the quality of rice kept at the godown and found it satisfactory. Mr. Jayaraman directed officials to move the rice bags in time to the fair price shops to ensure the commodity was distributed to the members of the public in time. The minister later visited a modern rice mill of the TNCSC in Kadachanendal in the outskirts of the city.
