MADURAI: A jeweller was relieved of American diamonds worth Rs.3.25 lakhs by a gang at Subramaniapuram here on Thursday. According to police sources, Kadappa Chettiar (50) of Karaikudi had come to at a house in TVS Nagar with his jewels for a purchase order. While returning to Periyar Bus Stand, two motorcycle-borne youth waylaid him near Palanganatham and snatched the bag containing diamond jewellery. Senior police officials visited to the scene of crime for preliminary investigations.. Subramaniapuram police have registered a case.
House burgled
Burglars broke into the house of a NGO worker at Anna Nagar here and decamped with valuables worth Rs.1 lakh on Thursday. John Peter, working in the Madurai Multi-Purpose Social Service Society had gone to Tiruchi along with family members a couple of days ago and returned home on Thursday morning. Around 25 sovereigns of gold ornaments and Rs. 20,000 cash kept in an almirah was found missing. The burglars had gained entry by forcing open the front door.
