HYDERABAD: Four persons took away 15 tolas gold and Rs. 44,000 at knifepoint from an ECIL employee's family members after sneaking into their house by removing window grills at AS Raonagar of Kushaiguda in the early hours of Thursday. M. Narayana Murthy, 48, his wife Satyavati, 43, both working in ECIL and their daughter Neelima, 19, were asleep when the robbers entered around 2.30 a.m. They first woke up the mother and daughter and tied them down with saris. All four offenders had knives and rods. When Satyavati tried to rescue her daughter from the clutches of the robbers, the latter beat up her. Later, they woke up Murthy who was sleeping in the hall and collected the keys of the almirah after threatening to kill his family members. They collected the cash and ornaments from the almirah and disappeared, the Alwal ACP Laxma Reddy said.
Duo held
The Bowenpally police on Thursday rounded up Sameer and his associate T. Srisaialam who allegedly committed 22 robberies in the past five months in and around the city. Stolen gold ornaments worth Rs. 3.5 lakh were recovered from their possession, the Hyderabad Police Additional Commissioner Tejdeep Kaur Menon told a press conference. Sameer and his associates used to waylay motorists in isolated places on highways and take away cash and gold at knifepoint.
