BANGALORE: The Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell on Wednesday postponed the casual vacancy round seat selection process for medical, dental, Indian Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy, engineering and architecture courses which was scheduled to be held between August 13 and September 28. Counselling was postponed as the eligibility for admission to medical courses had been challenged before the Karnataka High Court, the Cell officials said. When contacted, the Cell's Special Officer, D.N. Nayak, told The Hindu that in case of an adverse court verdict, the entire Casual Vacancy Round would have been rendered useless. There would, however, be no problem if the court order were in favour of the CET Cell. But it was felt that a safe decision would be to postpone the round until the verdict (expected shortly), he said. Besides, there was a possibility of a change in the availability of medical and dental seats and the seat matrix. "If that happens, the loss of time due to the postponement will be compensated," he explained.
