Vigilance raids

Thiruvananthapuram: The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) on Thursday conducted simultaneous raids at three residential locations allegedly owned by the former Pollution Control Board member secretary K.V. Indulal. Earlier, the VACB had registered a case against Mr. Indulal on the charge of amassing wealth beyond known and legitimate sources of income. A senior official said certain "incriminating documents" pointing to amassment of wealth to the tune of Rs.20 lakhs have been seized from the locations. DySPs Madhu and Girijanathan Nair led the operation. — Staff Reporter

House surgeons' strike

Thiruvananthapuram: Over 200 house surgeons attached to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College will go on a token 24-hour strike on Friday demanding that the college authorities order an inquiry into the altercation between one of the junior nurses and house surgeons that threatened to paralyse the functioning of SAT Hospital on Tuesday. They demanded that disciplinary action be taken against the nurse. — Staff Reporter

Trouble call centres

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Among the 41 Trouble Call Management Centres proposed to be set up by the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) in different parts of the State, two are in Thiruvananthapuram district. There is already a centre covering the City Corporation area and the proposed ones are at Neyyattinkara and Nedumangad, Minister for Electricity Aryadan Mohammed has said. The Government has already accorded sanction for these centres, he said in the Assembly on Thursday. — Staff Reporter
