MADE EASY: A Compact Disc on Tamil learning to be launched shortly in Chennai.
CHENNAI: Is it an uphill task to learn Tamil grammar? An emphatic no comes from a person who has been engaged in developing learning material for Tamil through computers. M. Anto Peter, a young advocate of Tamil language computing and a recipient of the State Government's award for his Tamil book in computer science, says the teaching Tamil grammar can be made more interesting with the help of the latest technological tools. He feels that it is because of the absence of visual content or interactive character in Tamil teaching that school students have found it difficult learning the language. To overcome this problem, Mr. Peter has come out with a software that covers different aspects of Tamil learning. The product teaches how characters are pronounced and how they are written. It also guides one to use the mouse or keyboard for typing words. It even enables one to record his own pronunciation of characters. Apart from containing children's songs, the product conveys Tirukkural verses through tales. To be released on Independence Day, this learning material is aimed at school students and teachers, apart from non-resident Indians, who are keen in teaching Tamil to their children properly. Mr. Peter can be contacted at 23742471 or 23741053 for more information.
