CHENNAI: : Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur, on Thursday announced the launching of its online Post-Graduate Certificate Course in Logistics Supply Chain Management (PGCLSCM) programme. It has an arrangement with the Reliance Web World's real broadband network for the programme. Giving details of the 14-month programme through a videoconference on Thursday, the XLRI Director, Fr. N. Casimir Raj, SJ, said the programme targeted high-potential mid-career managers looking to move up the career ladder. This virtual course will be available in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune at a cost of Rs. 1,65,000. The course has been designed by XLRI professors and will entail over 400 hours of teaching. The fees could be paid in four instalments, which would cover the course material, a visit to the XLRI, the convocation and other related expenditure for the textbooks. Prof. Ram Kumar Kakani, Coordinator, Satellite Programmes of XLRI, said the structure of the course had been developed based on a comprehensive study conducted by the institute involving 3,000 working supply chain professionals across the seven cities where the course would be available. The study found that 85 per cent of the professionals preferred a course on the business aspects of logistics and supply chain management. Describing this initiative as a milestone in strengthening the e-learning process, Sarup Chowdhary, CEO of Reliance Web World, said that as a leading private Information Technology service provider, Reliance Web World was trying to have more tie-ups with universities and institutes both within the country and overseas.
