Asian statesman, says Gopal Gandhi

KOLKATA: The West Bengal Governor and former High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Gopalkrishna Gandhi, said that Lakshman Kadirgamar (who was shot dead on Friday night) was more than an outstanding Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka; he was an Asian statesman and jurist of international standing.

Mr. Gandhi said Mr. Kadirgamar was one of the world's greatest bulwarks against the politics of terror and assassination. His death leaves his friends and admirers across the world grief struck, but also infinitely proud of him as a man of uncommon courage and calibre, Mr. Gandhi added.
