GULBARGA: Congress leaders at a party workers' rally in Gulbarga on Saturday hinted at an imminent mid-term election. Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh expressed confidence that the party will return to power "all by itself" under the leadership of State Congress president M. Mallikarjun Kharge. He said the coalition with the Janata Dal (Secular) is a "one-time, inevitable adjustment." Congress president Sonia Gandhi, he said had directed them to go in for this power sharing because of unexpected political developments after the Assembly elections. But the party is sure that such a situation will not arise in future and we will return to power on our own, he said. Mr. Dharam Singh said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would conduct an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas in the State on Tuesday.
