Bhatia's century propels Airlines

BANGALORE: Rajat Bhatia's unbeaten 130 helped Indian Airlines soar high against Hyderabad in a KSCA All-India invitation MRF Trophy tournament match that commenced at the IAF Ground here on Sunday. Indian Airlines scored 283 for seven in 83 overs before the rains forced an early closure of the opening day's play.

The Airlines top-order was nipped with the score reading 120 for four before Rajat (130 not out, 187b, 16x4, 2x6) played a lone hand to revive the innings.

In another match, Air India, helped by S. Bagul (80), S. Raina (56) and N. Patel (50) scored 282 against New South Wales. The visitors mustered 18 for no loss at close.

In the other matches, L. Balaji grabbed four wickets to help Chemplast bowl out NCA for 254 while KSCA off-spinner Udit Patel's haul of six wickets pegged IOC to 253.

At IAF Ground: Indian Airlines 283 for seven in 88 overs (Rajat Bhatia 130 batting, Shafiq Khan 50) vs Hyderabad.

At Chinnaswamy Stadium: Air India 282 in 83.5 overs (S. Bagul 80, S. Raina 56, N. Patel 50) vs NSW 18 for no loss in 11 overs.

At RSI Ground: NCA 254 in 72.3 overs (Rohit Sharma 59, Pinal Shah 49, Piyush Chawla 45, L. Balaji four for 67) vs Chemplast 46 for two in 14 overs.

At JIRS Ground: IOC 253 in 64.1 overs (Hemanth 57, Udit Patel six for 86) vs KSCA 122 for four in 27 overs (R. Uthappa 76).
