VISAKHAPATNAM: Renowned scholar `Purana Vachaspati' Malladi Chandrasekhara Sastry will be presented the Raja-Lakshmi Award 2005 while `Veda Vibhushana' Kuppa Siva Subrahmanya Avadhani has been chosen for the Lakshmi-Raja Vaidika Puraskaram 2005. According to P.V. Ramanaiah Raja, the managing trustee of Sri Raja-Lakshmi Foundation, the award to Mr. Sastry carries a purse of Rs. 1 lakh, a citation and a memento.
He would also receive the Dr. K.V. Rao and Dr. Jyothi Award of USD 2,000 in association with the Telugu Fine Arts Society (TFAS), New Jersey, USA. The annual award would be presented to the Guntur-born 79-year-old Mr. Sastry, noted for rendering discourses on puranas, epics and the author of religious works, at a function in Hyderabad on November 19 this year. Mr. Avadhani, a noted Vedic scholar who also hails from Guntur district, will receive Rs. 50,000, a citation and a plaque which also includes cash prizes from late Kidambi Raghunathan and family, and M.D.N. Rao of USA.
