Iqbal songs sung on I-Day

JAMMU: For the first time on an Independence Day, songs written by Urdu poet Allama Iqbal, author of the famous song, Sare-Jahan Se Acha, were sung at the Jammu University auditorium here on Monday.

Seema Anil Sehgal rendered the songs.

Iqbal, Pakistan's national poet belonged to Anantnag district of this State. His parents migrated from Jammu and Kashmir to Sialkot district now in Pakistan. Monday's concert was held to mark the centenary year of Saare-Jahan Se Achha.
