Temple opened for monthly pujas

PATHANAMTHITTA: The Lord Ayyappa Temple at Sabarimala was opened on Tuesday afternoon for the five-day monthly puja in the Malayalam month of Chingom.

Tantri Kantaru Mohanaru will begin the puja with the auspicious Ganapati homam on Wednesday morning, the first day in the Malayalam calendar.

Melsanthi V. Muraleedharan Namboodiri and 25 other priests will assist the Tantri in the Laksharchana to be held at the Sannidhanam after the Ushapuja on Wednesday.

The Ayyappa Temple would be closed after the Athazha puja on August 21 evening.

Today's rituals:

Opening of sanctum sanctorum: 5 a.m.

Ganapati homam: 5.10 a.m.

Abhishekom: 5.15 a.m.

Neyyabhishekom: 5.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.

Usha puja: 7.15 a.m.

Laksharchana: 7.30 a.m.

Utcha puja: 12.15 p.m.

Closing of sanctum sanctorum: 12.30 p.m.

Opening of sanctum sanctorum: 5 p.m.

Deeparadhana: 6.30 p.m.

Pushpabhishekom: 7 p.m.

Padi puja: 8 p.m.

Athazha puja: 9.30 p.m.

Harivarasanam: 10 p.m.
