Isolated rain likely in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Southwest monsoon has been active over Telangana and south interior Karnataka.

Rainfall occurred at most places over Telangana, coastal Karnataka and Kerala and at many places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and interior Karnataka. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu and dry weather prevailed over Lakshadweep.

The following stations recorded very heavy to heavy rainfall in Centimetres:

Kammardi (Chickmagalur dt.) and Thodupuzha (Idukki dt.) 14 each, Dharmasthala (Dakshina Kannada dt.) 11, Subramanya and Belthangady (both Dakshina Kannada dt.) and Mudibidre (Udupi dt.) 10 each and Puttur (Dakshina Kannada dt.) and Koppa (Chickmagalur dt.) 7 each.

FORECAST (Valid until Thursday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over Telangana and coastal Karnataka, at many places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Kerala and interior Karnataka and at a few places over Lakshadweep. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.

Heavy rainfall warning: Isolated heavy rain is likely to occur over Telangana, north coastal Andhra Pradesh, coastal and south interior Karnataka during the next 48 hours.

Farmers Weather Bulletin for Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry Forecast (valid until the morning of 18th August 2005): Isolated light to moderate rain is likely to occur over Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.

Outlook for subsequent two days: No large change.
