Stress on spiritual liberation

NEW DELHI: "While we celebrate the country's freedom, we must realise that spiritual liberation is equally essential,'' said the mother of Nirankari Baba Hardev Singhji Maharaj, Nirankari Rajmata Kulwant Kaur, at a function organised here on the occasion of Independence Day on Monday.

Rajmata Kulwant Kaur said: "When we see people unhappy even after Independence, it shows how important it is for the soul to be at peace. The increasing tendencies of violence and destruction prove that we have not been able to enjoy the fruits of Independence. And the reason for all this is lack of spiritual awakening."

She also called upon every human being to do good to others.

"One must rise above selfishness and other negative tendencies to make life happy for oneself as well as others."

The followers of the Sant Nirankari Mission, who observed Mukti Parv on the occasion, remembered all those who struggled and laid down their lives for the freedom of the country.
