Notices to Delhi varsity V-C, Dean

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday allowed 11 more successful candidates of the Combined Entrance Examination (CEE), conducted this past May for admissions to the Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) course at the Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology and the Delhi College of Engineering here, to participate in counselling scheduled to be held this month.

A Division Bench comprising Justice B.A. Khan and Justice Madan B. Lokur passed the direction on separate appeals by the successful candidates.

The students filed the appeals against a Single-Judge Bench order of the Court of July 25 barring as many as 33 successful candidates of the Entrance Examination, including the appellants, from participating in the counselling on a petition by Karan Mendiratta, another successful candidate, alleging irregularities.

The Bench also issued notices to Dean, Faculty of Technology, Delhi University, the Delhi University Vice-Chancellor, Principals/Directors of the Institute and the Delhi College of Engineering and the Delhi Government asking them to file replies to the appeals by August 22.

In the appeals, the appellants submitted that the Single-Judge Bench order was passed without giving them opportunities to make their submissions.

Earlier, the Bench had allowed 11 of the students to appear in the counselling.
