TIRUPATI: The TTD employees are all set for the launch of agitational programmes from Wednesday under the banner of their Joint Action Committee (JAC). Fervent appeals made by the TTD top brass led by its Executive Officer A.P.V. Narayan Sarma to dissuade the 15,000 strong workforce from taking a collision course on the ground that it would cause serious inconvenience to the pilgrims have eventually fallen on deaf ears. The JAC, in a statement issued here on Tuesday evening, indicated no change in its future course of action already announced and said that the agitation will begin as scheduled from Wednesday with a mass hunger strike by the employees in front of the TTD's Administrative Office here. It would be followed-up with a relay fast from August18 and a silent procession on August 22 through the main streets of Tirupati . The first phase of the stir would end with a fast-unto-death from August 24 by all the nine conveners of the JAC. The JAC in its statement claimed that the CITU and the AITUC have expressed their solidarity with their strike. The JAC leaders asserted that they would ensure that the strike would not cause any hardship to the pilgrims.
