A veil of secrecy

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Minutes after Chief Minister, Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy, extolled at a workshop on how the Right to Information Act would empower people, journalists were barred from covering the post-inaugural session.

Following a tea break after Dr. Reddy inaugurated the workshop organised for senior officials and Ministers, journalists were told that the remaining part was a closed-door affair.

Official sources later said that the pros and cons of the Act were discussed at the brief interactive session at which the Chief Minister and several of his Cabinet colleagues were present.
