HYDERABAD: Busan Asian Games bronze medallist Rajesh Chaudhary, Bijoy Kumar Rout and N.S. Johal will be among the leading sailors who will take part in the National Laser sailing championship at Hussainsagar lake from Aug. 18 to 23. Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Lt. Gen. Arvind Mahajan, Commandant of the MCEME said that the vision of the Laser Class Association of India (LCAI) was to go for gold in the Beijing Olympics 2008. For this specific purpose a programme called the "Laser Class Mission Olympics 2008" had been launched recently. "Without a vision we are rudderless," he said. The organising secretary of the national championship, Col. Anil Shirodkar said that 63 entries had been received and more were expected till registration closes on Wednesday at 2 p.m. The age of the sailors ranged from 14 to 54 years. Major General Kamal Kumar, Deputy Commandant, MCEME, Col. K.S. Saini, and Lt.Col (retd) M.P. Jaggi also addressed the conference. The following are the teams: Royal Madras Yacht Club, NDA Sailing Club, Indian Naval Watermanship Training Centre Mumbai, WTC Indian Naval Ship Mandovi, Artillery Centre Golconda, CESC Pune, Secunderabad Sailing Club, Naval Sailing Cub Vizag, Tamil Nadu Sailing Association, Army Yachting Node Mumbai, EMESA Secunderabad, an Goa Yachting Association.
