Meet on herbs on August 18, 19

A conference on `Indian herbs as potential skin care and cosmetic agents' will be held here on August 18 and 19. It is being organised by Heritage Bio-Natural Systems in collaboration with two French firms engaged in cosmetics and perfume trade.

Raising Day fete concludes

The 44th Raising Day celebrations of the Artillery Centre, Golconda, concluded on Monday, coinciding with the Independence Day. Spread over 3,600 acres, the centre, a premier institution for training gunners, was set up on August 15, 1962.

It trains over 5,000 recruits every year and is a major feeder institute to all Artillery units of the country, according to the centre Commandant Rohit Kalia.

SBH branch opened

Finance Minister K. Rosaiah has said that the Government is making arrangements to disburse Rs.12,000 crores as agricultural credit for kharif and rabi. About one-fifth of this will come from the cooperative sector.

He said this after inaugurating a branch of the State Bank of Hyderabad (SBH) on the Secretariat premises on Tuesday.

Secretary (Protocol) C.R. Biswal, bank's Chief General Manager P. Dinakara Rao, and other officials were present.

Special poojas

Special poojas will be performed for three days from Wednesday to goddess Santhoshi Mata at Sri Kasiviswanath Swamy Devasthanam, Secunderabad. The highlight will be "purnahuti" by Swamy Swaroopananda of Sarada Peetam, Visakhapatnam, on August 19, according to a press release.
