NEW DELHI:
The Chief Election Officer, Rajiv Khanna, on Tuesday issued a `code of conduct' for the upcoming Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections.
Apart from instructing university staff members to remove all posters from inside and outside colleges and the campus area, the Chief Election Officer said that if anyone was found pasting posters, the matter would be reported to the police and a case registered under the West Bengal Prevention of Defacement of Public Property Act, that is applicable to the Capital.
The code of conduct also bans use of loudspeaker and microphone in the run up to the elections and does not allow candidates to spend more than Rs. 10,000 or use more than two vehicles for canvassing.
Students have been also advised to carry their identity cards while entering colleges for campaigning purposes.
