NEW DELHI: The New Delhi police were thrown into a tizzy on Tuesday when they received a phone call claiming that a young boy had abducted a girl in an auto-rickshaw near Chanakya cinema here. However, the call turned out to a false alarm. The Police Control Room received the call around 4 p.m. The caller also gave the registration number of the vehicle. A red alert was sounded immediately and the number of the vehicle was flashed. The police also put up barricades at several places hoping to catch the abductors. In 15 minutes, the auto-rickshaw was spotted at Netaji Nagar in Sarojini Nagar. The police stopped the auto-rickshaw and questioned the young boy and girl sitting inside. Questioning of the driver and the two passengers confirmed that there was no attempt on the boy's part to abduct the girl. "The two had a heated argument over some minor issue, following which the girl refused to go with the boy. But the boy insisted and a passer-by thought that he was forcing the girl to go with him and called up the police," said the Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi), Anita Roy. The New Delhi police are now trying to trace the caller.
