COIMBATORE: Bharathiar University and some of its affiliated colleges in Erode and Coimbatore districts will sign a memorandum of understanding with MeritTrac, a skill assessment company based in Bangalore, on August 19. A release said that MeritTrac examined over 35,000 graduates every month and had offices in Singapore, United Kingdom, United States and Mauritius.
Software developed
It had recently developed online test delivery software and would conduct specific tests in programming skills, operating systems, networking and soft skills in English. The Vice Chancellor S. Sivasubramanian said that services such as data capture, data processing, back office operations and transcription services accounted for a large share of the revenues in business process outsourcing.
Placement services
India could not continue to play the "cost advantage" because countries such as China and the Philippines were coming up fast. Systematic placement services would help maintain close interaction between industries and institutions. The agreement with MeritTrac was likely to support placement services for University departments as well as affiliated colleges.
