BSNL's broadband service a big hit with customers

Ever since its launch on May 1, this year, the broadband service of BSNL - DataOne - has steadily found increasing favour with the company's customers in the city. Till date BSNL has given 535 DataOne connections in the city alone. According to the Principal General Manager of BSNL Veluswamy, the broadband services would shortly be extended to taluk headquarters. "We have installed the necessary equipment in most of these places and are now giving the finishing touches at the respective exchanges," he said. But there are some customers who are dissatisfied with the `broadband' speeds they get via DataOne.

Officials of BSNL admit this may be true in cases where the customer is located some three kilometres away from the exchange. This, however, is of little consolation to customers. G. Mahadevan
