New Vice-Chief of Air Staff
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI:
After a fortnight-long wait, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has a new Vice-Chief to replace S.K. Malik, who retired last month. This was one of the rare instances when the charge of a pivotal post in the armed forces was not handed over by the predecessor to his successor. "This was unprecedented. We did not find an instance like this in our history," said a senior IAF officer who did not want to be identified.
The new Vice-Chief of Air Staff, Ajit Bhavnani made the cut after the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) considered the candidature of three Air Vice-Marshals.
