Counselling for admission to Veterinary Science course begins

CHENNAI: Counselling for admission to Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry degree course began at Madras Veterinary College, Vepery, on Thursday.

Dr. N. Balaraman, Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS), presented the admission cards to three top rankers.

R.Santhamani from Sankari Durg Taluk in Salem district scored 294.34, the highest marks in the entrance examination. She was followed by A.Abdul Hafeez of Vellore, who secured 293.83 marks. A. Aparna from Thanjavur, who got 294.08 marks, bagged the third rank.

There are 226 seats in the Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc and A.H) course, for which 123 students attended the counselling and 65 seats remained vacant on the first day, P.Dhanapalan, Controller of Examinations, TANUVAS, said. The next round of counselling will be held on September 5 in the city, he said.

A total of 146 students would get admission to Madras Veterinary College, and the remaining to the Veterinary College in Namakkal.

Counselling for Bachelor of Fisheries Science (B.F.Sc) would be held at the same venue on Friday. The selected candidates would join the fisheries college at Tuticorin, Dr.Dhanapalan said.
